A sequel to the best-selling book, Broken Windows, Burning New York is sure to please an eager audience clamoring for more. Brilliantly composed, massive scale photos document the best graffiti art painted in New York since the turn of the millenium. New York is the undisputed graffiti capital of the world, the epicenter of a vibrant international scene that attracts artists from all over the globe. Some make the pilgrimage to study old school forms, others to make their own individual contribution to the evolution of the craft. As with Broken Windows, Burning New York collects interviews and even more intimate portraits of the artists working in the streets. Featured artists include LADY PINK, SMITH, CYCLE, COPE2, EWOK, CES, T-KID 170, MUCK, TOOFLY, REVOLT, MARK BODE, CLAW, MISS17, EAZ, BARNSTORMERS, DOZE GREEN, SKWERM, PER ONE, NIC ONE, STEM and many more. Four oversized fold-out gatefolds present some of the largest productions painted in New York since 2000 on a scale worthy of their stature within the scene.

From the ashes of the 60s to the dust of Ground Zero, New York graffiti has magnetized and polarized, rocked and shocked. When the hot-eyed and restless ride the city’s edge to turn dead walls into worlds of color, motion, and passion, Jim and Karla Murray capture their visions and voices with a fire to match. Don’t blink.”

A teenager was arrested in a Chinatown subway station after vandalizing several train-car windows, police sources said yesterday.

Witnesses spotted Xavier Veal, 19, using acid to etch 11 windows in five cars on a southbound E train, the sources said.

Cops were called to the Canal Street station at about 8 p.m. Friday, and two witnesses gave them a description of Veal.

The officers held the train in the station as they searched the cars. They quickly found Veal and charged him with criminal mischief.
