Cey Adams is a visual artist, graphic designer and author. founder creative director of Def Jam Recordings and is known for his work with Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, Jay-Z, and Mary J. Blige. He has been described as “legendary” for his work in hip-hop graphic design. Cey started his career as a graffiti artist in the late 70s and early 80s. He studied painting at New York’s School of Visual Arts and has exhibited alongside fellow artists Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. In 1982 he appeared in the historic PBS documentary Style Wars about subway graffiti in New York.
