Grandmother, 87, found bludgeoned to death in Bronx home after bipolar grandson went berserk: cops

An 87-year-old woman was found dead with a massive head wound after her emotionally disturbed grandson barricaded himself in her home Thursday morning.

Alice Durso’s bipolar 48-year-old grandson, identified by neighbors and police sources as Eric Perez, went berserk inside her house on Hollywood Ave. near Randall Ave. in Throgs Neck, the Bronx, about 7:20 a.m.

He pitched a chair, two pillows, a small table and other objects off the balcony when police arrived.

“He was out there throwing everything out but the sink,” said neighbor John Slattery, 24. “He was yelling and screaming at the cops.”

As police approached, Perez retreated inside and barricaded himself in a bedroom.

Cops sporting helmets and shields took Perez into custody about 8:45 a.m. The bald, tattooed hulk was led from the two-story home in handcuffs wearing only plaid boxer shorts. read more here
