‘Fresh Dressed,’ A Documentary Exploring the Evolution of Hip Hop through Fashion

Sundance Film Festival is known for shining a light on independent films which otherwise may not get any of the exposure they truly deserve. One film set to premiere at the Utah festival is Fresh Dressed, a new documentary which details the evolution of fashion within the hip-hop scene. The two have always been inextricably linked since the birth of the culture in 1970s New York City to Kanye West‘s ties to high-end fashion houses today. A number of figures integral to the scene are featured including Kanye himself, Andre Leon Tally, Riccardo Tisci, Dapper Dan and Thirstin Howell III, which combine to create a narrative that “begins with slavery and ends with what is being rocked today – and what the social implications attached to it all are.”
